Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our approach, how care works, and what to expect as a new patient.

About our approach

Understanding the approach before your first visit.

Is this an evidence-based approach?

Yes. We integrate evidence-based medicine with the personalized perspective of functional medicine. Recommendations are grounded in clinical research and tailored to your individual health history, goals, and biology — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

How is functional medicine different from conventional care?

A Functional Medicine perspective is focused on the root cause and all the contributing factors - how hormones, nutrition, stress, sleep, metabolism, and other systems interact.

Conventional Medicine excels at acute care, diagnosis, and managing disease.

At My Best Me Health, we blend both approaches to give you the most complete picture of your health.

Can this approach help with thyroid and hormone symptoms?

Yes — these are core areas of focus. Thyroid and hormonal symptoms often overlap with fatigue, mood, weight, cognition, and sleep. A comprehensive, individualized approach can help uncover contributing factors and build a plan that addresses the full picture.

How long does it take to see results?

It depends on what's driving your symptoms and how long they've been present. Many patients begin to notice progress over weeks to months. Care plans are adjusted over time based on your results and how you feel — this is an ongoing partnership, not a one-time visit.

Will you run a lot of labs?

Testing is targeted and used when it helps answer a specific question or guides your plan. The goal is thoughtful, purposeful evaluation — not running labs for their own sake. Recommendations are always made in the context of your individual situation.

Getting started

What to expect when you reach out for the first time.

How do I become a patient?

Start by reaching out via email or using the online booking link. We'll confirm next steps and send intake forms to complete before your first visit.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Any recent lab work, relevant medical records, and a list of current medications or supplements are helpful. The more context you can share, the more useful your first visit will be. Whenever possible, patients should provide relevant records and test results to support safe, informed, and coordinated care.

Is this the right approach for me?

My Best Me Health may be a good fit if you want a more personalized approach to healthcare, value a collaborative partnership with your provider, feel your symptoms have not been fully explained, or are interested in prevention and long-term wellness. We care for adults seeking an engaged, individualized approach — with particular expertise in women's health, hormonal wellness, thyroid disorders, fatigue, metabolic health, and preventive care.

Do I still need a Primary Care Provider (PCP)?

Yes. Patients are expected to maintain an ongoing relationship with a Primary Care Provider. My Best Me Health is designed to complement, not replace, comprehensive primary care services. We encourage coordinated care and may recommend consulting with your PCP or specialists as part of your care plan.

Appointments & logistics

Practical details about how care is delivered.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently we are a cash based practice. This allows us to provide the best most effective individualized care that we can without the constraints of insurance. We accept major credit cards.

How long are appointments?

Initial intake appointments are a minimum of 60 min. After the first visit, appointment length will depend on individual needs and what program or membership is right for each patient.

Do you prescribe medications?

As a licensed family nurse practitioner, I am able to prescribe medications. Prescribing decisions are made on an individual basis after consideration of medical history, clinical appropriateness, patient safety, and applicable regulations. Prescribing regulations vary by state and may change over time. Please contact us for details specific to your situation.

What lab testing do you use?

Testing is individualized based on your symptoms and goals. All testing decisions are made within the context of your specific clinical situation to answer meaningful questions and guide your care plan. Some examples of testing may include:

  • Dutch hormone testing
  • GI testing
  • nutritional testing
  • blood work/ urine testing at Quest or LabCorp.
How does telehealth work?

All visits are conducted securely via telehealth for patients located in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire. After booking, you'll receive simple instructions for joining your appointment though a HIPAA compliant Zoom link.
